District Grant Project - Setting up School Libraries at Katta

A library is an important source of knowledge to young minds in schools. It develops the important habit of reading among the students. Every school should have a library. The school library provides information and ideas that are fundamental to functioning successfully in today's information and knowledge-based society. The school library equips students with lifelong learning skills and develops the imagination, enabling them to live as responsible citizens. With this motto RCMM embarked on setting up Library at four schools of Kattaand around. Schools selected were:

1.Kendra Shala, Katta

2.Sau. HirabaiB VaraskarVidyamandir, Varad

3.New English School, Pendur

4.B T ChavanMaharashtra MadhyamikVidyalay,Chowke
Rtn. Ushatook an initiative of preparing application for District Grant and it was accepted by District. Total budget for the project was estimated as Rs. 2,33,825/-.  District sanctioned 50% amount and 50% amount to be utilized from RCMM’s fund. Project involved selection and buying of books, Cupboards to house the books, lay down the procedure for library maintenance. Deepak Bhogatefrom Kattawas helpful in identifying the books, procuring cupboards, setting up the libraries at schools.  Books selected are ‘नेत्यांचीचरित्रे, वैचारीक ग्रंथ, बालवाङमय, कथा, कादंबरी, एकांकिका, नाटक, ललीतलेख’ in Marathi as well as in English.
Inauguration of the Libraries was done on 8th– 9thApril. PR Sandhya, Rtns. Pradnya, Dr. Supriyaand Dr. Latikawere present during the inauguration at Katta. With these libraries 700 students will be benefitted. PR. Sandhyaaddressed the students and mentioned these schools are selected with objectives of getting additional reading material to substantiate the school syllabus, to generate interest in topics beyond school portion, inculcate the habit of reading story books in other languages (English). Rtns. Dr. Latikaand Dr. Supriyaaddressed the students in Malavani.  Rtn. Pradnyamentioned that books have helped her to achieve the success in life.
Mr. Deepak Bhogatehad organized very novel competition. He had selected four students from each school and the students were supposed to read one book and explained the audience what they have understood. Some of the students were  just outstanding. Winners were felicitated with gift and certificates.
For RCMM it was very satisfying experience as it is helping to build young generation.
