Monday, January 20, 2020

On 20thJanuary under the Leadership of Rtn. Dr. Ramesh SheteRCMM organized a Medical Check-up Camp at Bank of India, MahimPremises. Medical Camp was mainly for Diabetes Check-up and for women Cancer Check-up was also organized.
Due to the current life style and work pressures many of the people tend to get diabetes and it remains unnoticed till it becomes alarming situation. The camp was organized mainly to bring in the  awareness about the diabetes and stress upon the necessity of getting periodic testing. Rtn. DrRamesh Sheteorganized the team of doctors from ShushrushaHospital.
Day before the camp was held, handouts were distributed in near by areas by Rotarians and our Rotractorsfrom RCRRC and RCKCM. Almost 124 plus people went through the check up and 28 detected for diabetes, 3 were found to have abnormal blood sugars by glucometer. These patients have been advised for the further investigations.
Dr ManishaTalim, from ShushrushaHospital  addressed the people and gave tips to deal with diabetes. In her own words………………………………
“The typical Indian diet today has far more carbohydrate than required and part of it is refined. There is not adequate protein and there is too much faulty fat intake. This needs to change by making simple dietary corrections. Regular exercise in the form of yoga or walking helps in blood sugar control. Another important issue is the matter of stress management (that is commonly overlooked) which includes deep breathing exercises and meditation. Regular blood tests and follow-up with doctor can improve the lifespan of a Diabetes patient. Therefore creating Diabetes awareness has great value to our society.”
Many of the Rotarians attended the camp and helped for arrangements, registration, noting down weight and height. It was very satisfying day.
