RCMM has been associated with the DadarVidyaMandirSchool for past 4 - 5 years. The school is catering for the students mainly from Dharavi, densely populated slum area  of Mumbai. They constantly face health health issues like headaches, cough & cold fever, poor eyesight, skin itching, diarrhea, low energy ……. And this directly impacts their studies. Hence RCMM had organized a  Mega Medical Camp at DadarVidyaMandiron 16thOctober at school’s premises comprising check-up for Blood, General Health, Skin, Eye and Dental. Under the able leadership of Rtn. Sunitaalong with Rtns. Julinaand Archanaplan was put up in place identifying responsibilities of RCMM members, arrangements required at school, doctors and also for the catering.
Camp commenced sharp at 10 am. Total of 250 plus students, from 8thto 12thstandard were examined. Breakfast was provided for all the students going through the check-ups. Separate registration desks were provided for boys and girls. Once registration was done, height and weight was noted on the paper and student was guided for further check-ups.
Various teams of doctors for check ups were………………

It was difficult task to manage 250 plus students and ensure that each one goes through all the check ups and appropriate records are prepared. More than 18 RCMM members were present through out camp and shouldered the given responsibilities making the camp Grand Success. DGN RavindraAgarwaland AG PankajTannavisited the camp, interacted with doctors to understand the depth of check up, spoke to school authorities to understand how they work. Both of them appreciated RCMM members,
Once Blood Reports were received,  RtnsSunita, Archana, Julinaalong with Rtns. DrHemangeeand Supriyavisited the school. Both of them explained the outcome of reports and informed about the follow up actions needed, if any.
RCMM received feedback from doctors also.  DrRuna, Dentist said “Dental cavities/caries were predominantly noted in the students. Only a handful of students had ever visited a Dentist in their life, proved the ignorance of Oral Health”.
The doctors, not only marked the findings, but also suggested the appropriate treatments. The doctors distributed mouthwashes, tooth pastes and pain relief gels to the students on the spot as per the need. Doctors also  identified cases of Substance abuse (Tobacco, Gutka, Supari) from their dental examination. Doctors have also agreed to provide continuous care and motivation to the students to improve their overall Dental Health. In general many of the students had Vitamin D3 deficiency and also are anemic. They were provided with sachets of calcium, D3 combination. About 25% students detected for requiring eye sight correction – need to use regularly spectacles.
At the end of the day, it was very successful medical camp and concluded with Rtn. Archanaarranging with delicious lunch.
RCMM plans to have follow up visits to ensure required actions are initiated and students become healthier and excel in their studies.
